Welcome!
Thank you for taking the time to learn a little more about the person behind the designs! While I love the world of design, I'm also passionate about movies, food and most of all, my dog Briggs.
About me
I'm a Colorado native and currently reside in Arvada, Colorado with my wonderful husband Rocco, and red fox lab Briggs. Although both boys in my life have dog names, Rocco is the only one that drools.
I first discovered UX and UI design in 2020 after I, like so many others, was laid off from my job due to the pandemic. I had been working as a Customer Relations Specialist for a bespoke international travel company and was devastated. But instead of scrambling to find a new job, I took some time to reflect on what it was that I really wanted to do with my life. I had spent the majority of my working career in customer service or administration roles and I just couldn't see myself doing that forever. I've always loved digital design so I began looking into that industry, which is where I was introduced to the world of User Experience and User Interface Design.
In September of 2020, I enrolled in a UI design bootcamp from CareerFoundry and graduated the following year. But after a short stint of job hunting, I realized I also wanted to understand UX design, so I enrolled in the Immersive UX Design bootcamp from General Assembly. I fell in love with it. I had no idea the research that went into design, nor how much it could truly make a difference. Since then, I've spent my time studying, honing my skills, and finding inspiration wherever I can find it. I'm so happy to have found this industry and it feels pretty darn good to look forward to the next steps in my career.

"I never saw a wild thing sorry for itself."
- D.H. Lawrence
This quote comes to my mind often. Maybe it seems a bit dramatic when talking about design, and maybe I'm not the definition of a wild thing, but one thing I do know is that so much of design is failure, disappointment and rejection. With an abundance of talent and creativity out there, it can be so easy to get discouraged and feel inadequate. But feeling sorry for yourself gets you nowhere, so instead I try to look at all of the talent and get inspired, learn from my own mistakes and continue to push forward. This mindset applies to life as well as design, and so far this little quote has helped push me when I wanted to give up. It's not groundbreaking, but it works!
